[This is part of the Out and About with Kids series]
We headed off around the lake yesterday… I wanted to check out the cafe and facilities at Regatta Point and do the bridge to bridge walk in the gorgeous sunshine! I made a rookie error though… I didn’t check the weather forecast and consequently wasn’t aware of the strong wind! Ah well… sunshine and exercise won out!
The day itself was quite nice and the temperature wasn’t too bad for a winter’s day in Canberra… the wind chill factor however made the walk a little less pleasant to start with. I soon warmed up though, and the little man was wrapped up very snugly and slept for the vast majority of our walk. I felt great because I achieved what I set out to achieve, though I guess once I got a decent way into the walk I didn’t really have much choice considering there was no other way back to the car!
I would love to see better facilities for parents available at regular intervals around the lake, the parents room at Regatta Point is rather impractical for those of us with a pram! You have two options… pram between you and the loo (that could get awkward) or pram between you and the door (that could get even more awkward if you weren’t able to reach over and lock the door!). And for Mum’s who’ve given birth in the last 6 months or so… a few more parents rooms along the walk would be good (holding on while getting back into exercise isn’t always an option).
Ah well… we worked it out! And enjoyed the walk… and I got a lovely hot bath once hubby came home to help my leg muscles! Though I really could have done with a massage too! Bit stiff today!
