Random garden irrigation

After a year in our new home, hubby finally got around to diagnosing the issue with the sprinkler system that runs off our tank water! He had a friend around to help & their discoveries were truly remarkable!

Firstly, despite the sign in the front garden specifying the use of tank water… Most of the sprinkler system was actually hooked up to the water mains and NOT the tank water supply! But never fear, the previous owner’s cats had rendered the majority of the system useless by chewing through the pipe close to the tap connection, so the mains water clearly hasn’t been used in a really long time to water the garden anyway!

And secondly (this one is really good) – one of the settings on the tank water system in the front garden simply led to a pipe which went off in a bunch of directions & then just stopped! It wasn’t connected to any sprinklers, it wasn’t capped at the pipe ends… It simply stopped resulting in massive pools of water welling up from the ground! Whoever laid the pipes either had some irrigation ideas that make no sense to me, or the owners were seriously in their landscape gardener’s bad books!!!

Hopefully we’ll have a fully functioning irrigation system at some point soon! Then we can actually look after our garden & warrant spending money on things like a good vege patch! :-)
