Debt Free by Thirty

What a great aim to have! Being in my late twenties and having only entered the property market a year ago, I’m not sure that this is a realistic dream for me. Especially considering we’ve dropped to one income since buying our first home so that I would be able to stay home and raise our family! It’s a big life change to adjust to… but I’m confident that we’ve made the right decision for our family! :-)

So what is my dream? Continue Reading…

Outrageous!

July 19, 2011 — 2 Comments

I’ve come home today with some big ideas and lots of research to do into the baby shop industry and their suppliers!

Is Australia really prepared to accept that prices here will always be higher than our American & Canadian counterparts? What do America and Canada have to do with it? Not much really, but they do provide us with a good comparison of the sort of prices we could reasonably expect to be paying in Australia for baby items! Why is it that many of the independent baby stores out there have to fight tooth and nail with suppliers for stock, but the chain stores don’t appear to have too many problems? Why does the ATO flag an independent baby store’s low profit margin for potential illegal activity? Why are they seemingly unaware of the Australian baby industry’s climate and how small the profit margins are for independent baby stores around the country? And more importantly to me… what is the ACCC doing about all of this? Continue Reading…

Sorry I disappeared for a week there… my mother came to visit in her school holidays and so the blog didn’t really make a blip on my radar! It’s so wonderful watching my son with his granny… they have so much fun together! Such precious memories being made for our gorgeous little boy!

It’s never going to be easy-going from a two income family to single income family, but being home for your kids is priceless & totally worth it!!! I know plenty of people do it successfully with multiple kids… But when you have your first & have to adjust your spending habits to make ends meet it can be challenging for a while!

So how can you succeed? Continue Reading…

SMS scam…

May 20, 2011 — Leave a comment

I know we’d all love to win lots of money… it’d be almost like having a money tree in your back yard!

I just got a sms telling me I’d won lots of money… hmmm… the number it came from was +27 (South Africa), the email address to claim your prize is a UK-based hotmail address and the prize money amount is in USD! Gee… I wonder which part tipped me off to it being a scam?!?!?!

I wish my email address and telephone numbers were only used for genuine contact… I’m not interested in your bogus scams thanks very much!

I’m never a fan of unsolicited telemarketing calls… but when it’s from a provider that you use it can be even worse! I’ve received three calls from this number, though I only got to the phone the third time. When I picked up, I heard ringing tone (as if I was calling them… very strange)… then someone picked up “Hello” to which I responded and was promptly hung up on.It seems I’m not the only disgruntled customer receiving these prank/ telemarketing calls: http://www.reverseaustralia.com/lookup/0873281888/

I’m sorry… but as a pretty disgruntled Optus customer already (having had major issues with every account change made over the last two years) – this isn’t helping Optus! Please stop prank calling me!!!
