Do you ever find thinking and planning debilitating? Or should I say OVER thinking and
anal excessive planning… Where you’re so determined to plan things out perfectly and do it perfectly the first time that you disappear into the planning and never actually get anywhere near the execution stage?
I’m all too familiar with that space… I’ve found myself there lately in relation to this blog… I’m so busy planning the perfect blogging space, what I want the blog to become, the things I’m going to write about, how I’m going to interact on social media and more, that I forget the basics – writing blog posts!
I wonder how often we do that in life… Get lost in the planning stage where we’ve got a great vision in our minds eye, but never quite get to the point of execution. We fail to break things down into basic achievable steps and reconcile ourselves to the concept of delayed gratification. That grand plan isn’t going to be achieved over night – dedication and hard work will be required to fulfill big dreams!
If you really want to do something you will do it, if you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.
So I know it’s silly season and all most of you are doing at this time of year is madness management and possibly damage control! But how about goal setting for 2012? What do you want to achieve?
Over the holiday season I will be goal setting for 2012 – I’ve started already but need to revisit things in light of new possibilities and
insane unrealistic expectations of myself. I’m going for achievable to teach myself the value of planning and dedication – here’s to achieving goals in 2012!
The only real failure in life is the failure to try!
