A friend shared this Dr Seuss take on Facebook… I love it!

[This is part of the Out and About with Kids series]
It’s never too early to start reading!
I have very fond memories of our local library where I grew up in South Africa. It was quite a large building that was quiet and cool in the summer time, there were lots of large dark wooden bookshelves, green carpets and these gorgeous big bay windows with green seat covers. I remember going to the library regularly (every fortnight or so) and taking out the maximum number of books we were allowed with our little pink/green/yellow pocket library cards that the borrow card from the book would go into so the library knew which books we had out (I know… I must be a dinosaur because they were still using a manual paper system)! I loved the smell and feel of the library, I loved the time we got to peruse the shelves and pick the books we wanted to read! I still have vivid memories of where some of my favourite books were located on the library shelves! It’s little wonder that I still have a very deep love for books! One of my favourite children’s series’ were the Topsy & Tim books.
Spring is in the air… even in the blogosphere! All over the place bloggers are talking about their spring cleaning efforts and it’s inspired me!
I’ve been meaning to get through the junk on the bookshelves in our study that hubby has kept “just in case”… I’m talking hand written notes from his undergraduate degree that has no relation to his chosen career or current further studies (his current masters study relates directly to his chosen career path). I’ve also been going crazy with the lack of space in our study/spare room and all the stuff we have in our house that we never use! Why keep things in my house that haven’t been used in years? Cheeky monkey is growing and developing so much that even I can notice changes on almost a daily basis – it’s awesome! But one thing he just hasn’t got the hang of yet… the jolly jumper!!! He just kinda stands there… with his knees locked… just hanging out. Sometimes he’ll bend one knee and keep the other leg down and locked causing him to sort of swivel around which affords him a change of scenery, but not much else.
We’ve tried to demonstrate (standing in front of him in the jolly jumper and jumping up and down, feeling like an idiot but what the heck it’s worth a try) – nothing! Continue Reading…
I’m sure as Mum’s we’ve all found monsters somewhere. In our house it’s more grizzly bears than monsters and they rear their ugly heads when everything is just a bit overwhelming and Mummy cuddles (generally combined with a big nap time) are required! Continue Reading…
… and I know that it is love!!!
We spent the weekend in Sydney spending time with family and introducing Cheeky Monkey to extended family… lots of it! It was lovely to see everyone and they were all SO excited to see Cheeky Monkey! Lots of cooing and requests for cuddles… and for the most part, Cheeky Monkey obliged! Gorgeous smiles, chatting, snuggles and kisses (read: slobbering on people’s necks and cheeks)! Of course, he was thoroughly overwhelmed by the sheer number of people who were doting on him each day… and he reached out for Mummy for the first time!!! Ahhh…. Continue Reading…
